Help keep the Greenway green!
We will focus this work session on pulling out Black swallowwort, an invasive plant that is a threat to monarch butterflies.
The recent rain means that we can pull out a lot of the plants' roots, which will really help to keep its spread in check. Unfortunately, the recent rain is also good for poison ivy... so please wear long pants AND long sleeves!
Details:
* Starting point is at the trail intersection between Watertown Mall and 490 Arsenal Way (with bench and bike racks).
* Please bring: drinking water, a hat, and garden gloves if you have them. Please wear long pants, socks, closed toe/sturdy footwear - and long sleeves!
* We will provide trash bags, pitch forks, gardening gloves and trash bags to bag up the black swallowwort.
* If you haven't yet signed a 2025 waiver, you will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival.
* Any participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, or bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian in advance.
