Gather your gloves and shovels – it’s time to bid farewell to the invasive Black Swallow-Wort (BSW)! Join your neighbors for an afternoon of environmental action!
Let’s swap stories and share laughs as we rid our neighborhood of this pesky plant that poisons Monarch caterpillars. Together, we can reclaim our landscape and pave the way for native biodiversity to flourish!
The event will start with a quick introduction to Black Swallow-Wort, including identifying the plant, the harmful effects it has on the biodiversity and habitat in our neighborhood, and tips and tricks for removal.
We will then have a removal demonstration on a nearby property, after which we will spread around the neighborhood removing BSW from pre-approved properties. We will provide trash bags, trowels, gardening gloves and other tools needed for the day's activities.
All participants will need to fill out a liability waiver for the 2025 season if they have not already.
Ages 18 and up. We will be working with trowels and clippers along the sidewalks of the pre-selected neighborhood (TBD).
