Help keep the Greenway green!
We expect to focus this work session on pulling out Black swallowwort, an invasive plant that is a threat to monarch butterflies.
If the ground is soft enough, we will strive to pull out the swallowwort by the plants' roots, which will really help to keep its spread in check. Note: we've seen poison ivy in this same area... so please wear long pants AND long sleeves!
Details:
* Starting point is at the trail intersection between Watertown Mall and 490 Arsenal Way (with bench and bike racks).
* Please bring: drinking water, a hat, and garden gloves if you have them. Please wear long pants, socks, closed toe/sturdy footwear - and long sleeves!
* We will provide trash bags, pitch forks, gardening gloves and trash bags to bag up the black swallowwort.
* Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and added to the adult's waiver.
